The contest to win a piece of Donna DeMaria jewelry is still on! You have not missed your chance!

The best way to win is to be an awesome supporter of my blog and send an email to a bunch of.people telling them about www.plentyperfect.com – and “cc” me at annie@anniekip.com so I can see how awesome you are. Who over send out the most emails wins a prize.

If you are still pondering over who that little cartoon fella is…his last name ends in “rock” and he sometimes walks around with a dark rain cloud over his head. Anyone….anyone?

I really want to say thanks to everyone for reading my blog! I really appreciate it!

Lovin’ My Messed Up Flowers

Sometimes the darnedest things go right.  I made some totally messed up flowers and I LoVE LOVe LOVE them!  They are going to be in my new plentyperfect.com header (to be revealed soon!).  They are easy and fun and beautiful and you CANNOT MESS THIS UP ENOUGH!!!!  Seriously, you can do anything and they will turn out great!

For my birthday this year, I spent about 1200 hours in the Paper Source store in Wellesley and picked out some beautiful handmade paper to give to myself as a present.  I always make sure to buy myself presents…for my birthday, Christmas, Mother’s Day, you name it…and I always love what I get!  This keeps me from being resentful and bitter.  Most of the time.

One day, I decided to cut out a bunch of shapes…

…and I started fooling around with combinations…

…and since my kids were driving me crazy (I swear, they demand food something like 3 or 4 times a day!), I decided to ignore them and make more combinations…

…and I used a toothpick and gluestick to secure the pieces to a page…

 …and this is what I got…

 BUT WAIT!  There’s more!

I used a thing called a Snipping Tool (in Microsoft Office) to outline each flower and “cut” it out.  It was really difficult to make a straight with this tool and I was a little worried that it would not turn out right.  This is what I got…

 …and I LOVE them!!!

They remind we of the artwork in those inane Eric Carle books (Brown Bear, Brown Bear, The Very Hungry Catapillar, Where Is My Cat?  I don’t know where your *&%$#)@ cat is.  I still can’t figure out why my kids found this book about looking for a cat so entertaining.  Maybe they are not as bright as I thought…).  I guess this just goes to prove that if you have beautiful, funky paper, you can make beautiful, funky flowers and call yourself a brilliant artist.  You could also probably make these out of any old paper (newspaper! magazines! report cards!  parking tickets!) and they would look really cool.

Anyway, if these messed up, beautiful, funky flowers aren’t plenty-perfect, I don’t know what is!  Stay tuned for my new header using these flowers – coming soon!
